About the Role
Primary Aimline is seeking a motivated Journeyman Mechanical Engineer to support the design, development, integration, testing, and production of mechanical components and assemblies in support of customer engineering efforts.
The ideal candidate is an early-career engineer with strong analytical and problem-solving skills who enjoys working in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment supporting innovative engineering solutions from concept through production.
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
0–4 years of mechanical engineering experience through professional employment, internships, or co-op programs.
Experience using 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, Siemens NX, or similar.
Understanding of mechanical design principles, manufacturing processes, and engineering documentation.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance if required.
Preferred:
Internship, co-op, or professional experience supporting aerospace, defense, manufacturing, or other complex technical products.
Experience creating engineering drawings in accordance with ASME Y14 standards.
Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
Experience supporting products from concept through production.
Knowledge of machining, sheet metal fabrication, additive manufacturing, composites, and mechanical assembly processes.
Familiarity with environmental qualification standards (MIL-STD-810) and engineering qualification testing.
Experience supporting prototype builds, laboratory testing, or production support activities.
Knowledge of configuration management and engineering change processes.
Familiarity with product lifecycle management (PLM) systems such as Windchill or Teamcenter.
Responsibilities
Support the design, development, integration, and testing of mechanical components, assemblies, and systems.
Develop and maintain 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
Perform engineering analyses, including tolerance stack-ups, material selection, structural analysis, and thermal evaluations.
Support prototype fabrication, assembly, integration, and qualification testing activities.
Participate in engineering design reviews, including Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR), Critical Design Reviews (CDR), Test Readiness Reviews (TRR), and Production Readiness Reviews (PRR).
Collaborate with systems, electrical, software, manufacturing, quality, and test engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle.
Assist with root cause investigations, failure analysis, and implementation of corrective actions.
Support product verification, environmental qualification testing, and design validation efforts.
Review engineering changes and assist with configuration management activities.
Support manufacturing transition, production readiness, and product delivery.
Prepare engineering reports, technical documentation, presentations, and customer deliverables.
Perform other engineering duties as assigned.
