About the Role

The Manufacturing Quality Engineer is responsible for developing and maintaining quality standards while supporting production, engineering, and quality teams in a manufacturing environment. This role monitors production processes, conducts inspections and audits, performs root cause analysis, and drives corrective and preventive actions to improve product quality and process performance. The Quality Engineer applies Lean and Six Sigma principles, analyzes quality data and metrics, supports supplier quality and new product introductions, and ensures compliance with AS9100 and ISO9001 standards while balancing hands‑on production support with analytical and reporting responsibilities.

Qualifications:

Required: 
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Experience supporting multi‑disciplinary teams across manufacturing, engineering, and quality.
  • Strong understanding of quality systems and processes.
  • Demonstrated ability in data analysis and data-driven decision-making.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with proven team leadership ability.
  • Experience applying Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma principles.
  • General familiarity with manufacturing and production processes.

Preferred:
  • Quality certifications (ASQ or equivalent).
  • Experience supporting UAV production environments.
  • Knowledge of research and development (R&D) programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze processes and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Knowledge of inspection and test operations, including acceptance inspections, first article inspections (FAI), and quality inspections.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable working in a blend of office, laboratory, and hands-on production line environments.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing setting with noise, equipment, and machinery.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement quality standards,inspection plans, and procedures.
  • Monitor production processes to ensure compliance with quality requirements.
  • Conduct audits, inspections, and process assessments.
  • Identify manurfacturing inefficiencies, defects, or process gaps
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for defects and failures.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to improve processes.
  • Drive initiatives to reduce waste, variation, and cost.
  • Investigate product and process defects or failures using structured tools such as Fishbone diagrams, 5 Whys, and Pareto analysis.
  • Define and implement Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
  • Track and report key quality metrics including defect rates, yield, scrap, and rework.
  • Utilize Statistical Process Control (SPC) and other statistical tools.
  • Interpret data to support fact-based decision-making.
  • Evaluate and monitor supplier quality performance and ensure incoming materials meet specifications.
  • Maintain accurate quality documentation, records, and reports.
  • Support New Product Introductions (NPI) activities and process validation.
  • Ensure compliance with AS9100 and ISO9001 quality standards.
  • Perform effectively in a manufacturing, production, or laboratory environment.
  • May involve shift work, overtime, or weekend work as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
