About the Role
The Production Manager leads daily manufacturing operations to meet production, schedule, and quality goals. This role supervises and develops production teams, drives continuous improvement across workflows and equipment, and ensures compliance with safety and quality standards. The Production Manager coordinates closely with engineering, quality, maintenance, and supply chain teams, manages production planning and metrics, and serves as the manufacturing and producibility authority within the program.
Qualifications:
Required:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent relevant experience.
3–5+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting.
Experience supporting and leading multi‑disciplinary teams.
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, production workflows, and equipment.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated team leadership ability.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma principles.
Preferred:
Experience with ERP, MES, or production management systems.
Proven ability to analyze operations and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Knowledge of inspection and test operations, including acceptance inspections, quality inspections, and first article inspections (FAI).
Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with noise, machinery, and moving equipment.
Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate daily manufacturing activities to meet production, schedule, and quality goals.
Lead, coach, and mentor production team members to improve performance, skills, and engagment.
Monitor production workflow, identify inefficiencies, and implement process improvements.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and company policies.
Develop production plans, make/buy or make/where plans, and contribute to manufacturing sections of technical proposals.
Maintain quality standards by enforcing procedures and supporting inspections.
Coordinate with maintenance, quality, engineering, and supply chain teams to ensure smooth operations.
Track and report production metrics such as output, downtime, scrap, and rework.
Assist with scheduling shifts, task assignment, and labor resource management.
Train new employees and support ongoing training and certification efforts.
Address and resolve production issues rapidly to minimize impact to cost and schedule.
Design, control, and improve the product producibility through collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Operate in compliance with AS9100 and ISO9001 quality standards.
Serve as the manufacturing and producibility authority within the program.
May require shift work, overtime or weekend work.
Perform other duties as assigned.
